Senior Warden's End of 2023 Letter
As I sit here contemplating whether, or not, to put up our Christmas tree, I realize that the time has come to bring you all up to date on Emmanuel Church matters.
I am very happy to tell you that the Venerating Emmanuel Campaign has generated 33 pledges totaling almost $97,000! This is a wonderful outpouring of support from all of you. The Managing Committee and the Wardens are extremely grateful for all this generosity. If, by chance, you meant to pledge and haven’t yet, we will be happy to have you do that. Please contact me or Kathy Miner with your intention.
Thanks to an enthusiastic group, the church was buttoned up for winter shortly after Labor Day. The Rectory, with its spiffy new refrigerator, is also closed up for the winter, porch screens down, water off, and pipes drained. All is ready. Ted and Wendy Pearre are getting ready to attack the leaves and acorns (lots and lots of acorns) with the help of the Dublin School work gangs.
Gideon and Sarah’s son Woodford Pollach has become an accomplished sculler and competed in the Head of the Charles Regatta (a grueling three-mile race) where he came in mid-pack in his division, and the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, where he also had good results in two events.
I spoke to Rev. Abby recently and they are patiently awaiting the birth of their third child. Any day now, she tells me. I will let you know when I do.
We also mourn the passing of long-time parishioner and friend Harry Dawes in September and send our condolences to Nancy and the Dawes family.
If, by chance, you have neglected to make your annual gift to Emmanuel, we would be most pleased if you would send your check to P.O. Box 30, Dublin, NH 03444. It is our collective annual giving that keeps Emmanuel ready for summer worship.
Thank you all for all you do for Emmanuel Church. The thought of summer worship and fellowship sounds very good to me just now. Martha and I send our warmest wishes to all of you for a Happy Christmas season and we look forward to seeing everyone back at Emmanuel Church on June 30, 2024!
Faithfully ~
Bill Raymond, Sr. Warden
