Susan Allen's "Musing on Monadnock" Solo Exhibition EXTENDED through August 31, 2020
Susan Allen attends Emmanuel Church and enjoys serving as a Reader of Lessons.
Susan is an Exhibiting Member of the Providence Art Club and Monadnock Art and
has exhibited in faculty shows and galleries in Michigan, Rhode Island,
Massachusetts, and New Hampshire, the subject of much of her work. She is deeply
thrilled to be able to share 150 works in "Musing on Monadnock," a major solo
exhibition of paintings and monotypes in all three galleries of the Jaffrey
Civic Center running until August 31,2020. An open water swimmer who has swum
the Hellespont, walked the Camino of Santiago de Compostela, and foraged for
wild mushrooms in NH forests, Allen draws her
inspiration from immersion in nature. Allen is a plein air painter in oils and
watercolor. Her go-to subjects are land and lake scapes of New Hampshire,
Michigan, Rhode Island, and Greece. She approaches painting as a meditation and
aims to produce healing work that allows the viewer to contemplate and inhabit
as a respite from life’s stresses.
The Jaffrey Civic Center is located at 40 Main Street, Jaffrey, New Hampshire, next to Library, parking in rear. Hours are Monday to Friday 10-5pm, (closed for lunch 12 to 1pm) and Sat 10-2. Admission is always free.
